"The Arts have been a remarkable source of strength for me throughout my life. It is an incredibly powerful tool to spark transformation in individuals and communities. Igniting that spark in clients/participants is my goal at SOL Studio."

"I am grateful to live, work and make art on the traditional territory of the Snuxneymuwx people on Vancouver Island, Nanaimo."

About Larissa

Hi! I am a Certified Expressive Arts Therapist, Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC # 3570), health practitioner, a multidisciplinary artist (painter, theatre actor/director/facilitator), and the mother of a little toddler.
I am a lifelong learner of the arts and health. In my work as an Expressive Arts Therapist, I combine both my passions for art and wellness, in a holistic and life affirming way. Art has been an extremely powerful source of healing for me throughout the years. I was a troubled youth, who had many gifts, and also trauma. I struggled to be heard and understood and it took many years to find my path to healing. My continuous immersion into my wellness, creativity and the arts, has brought an incredible amount of empowerment, peace and aliveness into my life. It is this experience that led me to become a therapist and work to support you and the next generation into your own path of healing. Learn more here
I have a master’s degree in public health with a focus on health promotion and community development. I studied art at Vancouver Island University (VIU) and Emily Carr University. I love painting and being on stage, facilitating workshops and directing theatre plays. I am a trained actor and forum theatre facilitator/director through Theatre For Living. When I learned Forum Theatre, which is a philosophy/technique from my home country (Brazil), it was like coming home. I was instantly compelled to practice and share now over 7 years.
